Salsa & Bachata Footwork Competition – Event Structure

Competition Rounds

Preliminary Round: All competitors perform a 30-second solo freestyle to random music. Judges select the top performers based on technique, musicality, and stage presence.
Semi-Finals: Competitors perform a 45-second footwork showcase, possibly incorporating a short choreographed section. Judges score and narrow down the finalists.
Final Round: The top finalists battle head-to-head in a footwork showdown. Each dancer gets 1-minute rounds with alternating music, testing adaptability and performance skills.

Judging Panel

Judge 1 – Salsa Specialist: Evaluates technique, precision, and foot placement.
Judge 2 – Bachata Expert: Focuses on smoothness, musicality, and creativity in styling.
Judge 3 – Performance Judge: Looks at stage presence, confidence, and crowd engagement.
Judge 4 – Musicality Judge: Scores based on how well competitors interpret and respond to the music.

Scoring Criteria

Technique (30%) – Clean footwork execution, balance, and control.
Musicality (25%) – Ability to hit accents, follow rhythm changes, and interpret the music.
Creativity & Style (20%) – Unique movements, flair, and originality in footwork.
Performance & Presence (15%) – Confidence, energy, and engagement with the audience.
Adaptability (10%) – Ability to adjust to different song styles and tempos.
